Mom and entrepreneur: My little tips for managing it all!
Far from wanting to play the perfect mom, I’d like to use this article to share my little tips that help me manage my professional life and my life as a mom.
When I decided to embark on this jewelry design project, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. I suspected it would be challenging to find a balance that would allow me to invest 100% in Assaya while also being present for my children. This is especially difficult when you work from home and are passionate about your job!
That’s why it’s essential for me to set limits in my work. Otherwise, work quickly takes over, and you invest less in your family. To avoid this at all costs, I set daily goals for myself. I write down all the tasks I need to accomplish in a to-do list. This list must be reasonable enough not to frustrate me but ambitious enough for my project to grow as best as possible. Once these tasks are completed, I disconnect and focus solely on my family.
The second tip that helps me manage everything daily is to take breaks. Giving 100% of your time to your children is great, but it’s even better when your mind is free! So, I allow myself to take some time off just for me. This instantly calms me down, making me physically and mentally available for my children.
In practice, once they come home from school, I dedicate myself entirely to them. It’s easier said than done since my phone tends to follow me everywhere. I sometimes feel the urge to check my emails or social media. But I try to avoid that as much as possible. Sometimes, I even force myself to put my phone far away to avoid any temptation! Once my children are in bed, I can resume my activities.
I also sometimes involve them in my work. For instance, if I have practical tasks to do, like packing orders, I’ll let them help. Or I ask for their opinions on my new ideas, and I share my day with them. This helps them better understand my work, which has become my passion, and allows them to get involved in my entrepreneurial journey.
I hope these little tips will be useful to you. I invite you to share your own on the Instagram post if you’d like. Thank you for reading my article. Feel free to join me on my social media to follow my adventure, and check out the shop.
See you soon,
